Did you know that the spirit and the soul are two different elements that live inside each one of us? These elements are intertwined; one cannot exist without the other. And whatever positive or negative vibrations that affect one affects the other.

Being in touch with the inner self helps keep the spirit and soul in tune with each other. When you’re free from distractions and everyday stresses that plague the heart, you are more content with your life and happier living in the moment. When you are at peace, you feel a greater sense of satisfaction, joy, and empowerment. You are able to accept yourself freely and deeply.

It helps that a strong spiritual core promotes better health. Studies show that spiritual people are calmer, less stressed out. The low levels of the stress hormone cortisol in the body reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases as well as mental distress. But how to get in touch with yourself spiritually? Here are a few tips to try:

Look Deeper Into Yourself

To get in touch with your spirit, start getting to know yourself. What are your strengths and weaknesses? What makes you sad or happy? When faced with a difficult situation, how do you deal with it? Do you get angry or sad?

Keep a diary and write down your feelings. Try to find out why a certain situation made you happy or sad, etc. By getting to know yourself, you’ll discover your strengths and weaknesses as well as factors that affect your daily life.

Find Your Center

Finding your center is critical to being a content, happy, and productive person. And finding your balance isn’t just about focusing on your emotions. This is a process that eliminates the negative energy that affects the self and the spirit. It’s all about letting go of negative emotions that are only keeping you from living a rich, rewarding life.

Do not let guilt, anger, resentment, frustrations, and fears overwhelm your spirit. You have to unburden the heart, learn to forgive others and yourself. Live life in positivity and if a negative thought enters your mind, silence it with positive thinking.

Meditate

Meditation is one of the best ways to keep the soul and spirit in tune with each other. When you meditate regularly, you become calmer, less stressed out. You’ll also become healthier because the mind is not burdened by stress. Regular meditation is a channel that lets you bond with your spirit, allowing you to achieve inner peace and lasting joy.

There are many ways to meditate other than the traditional way of sitting down and closing your eyes in a quiet spot. You can take a walk, listen to soothing songs, do bits of gardening, chant mantras or practice yoga.

Filter Out Negativity

Life’s too short for not living your life to the fullest. What you think and feel affects your actions and behavior. If you choose to live a positive life then encourage yourself to live in the light. Surround yourself with positive people; avoid pessimism in any shape or form. Avoid negativity of any kind and if faced with a difficult problem, resolve it immediately.

filter out negativity

Do not wait for things to get worse before you do something about it. If there are certain aspects of your life that you wish you’d change, say, you’d like to become productive this year, make positive changes today. Be a better person and you’ll attract positivity. Remember, positivity allows you to connect with your spirit!

Do Good

Help others without expecting anything in return. Engage in activities that offer kindness, compassion, and generosity to people in need. And no, helping others doesn’t necessarily mean donating a huge sum of money to charity! Being an active part of the community, comforting people in need, or even offering kind words to a friend is enough to establish a connection to the spirit. If you can, consider volunteering at a local orphanage, or join community outreach programs to live out a renewed life.

Doing good makes you feel better because it feeds the soul. When you know that you made a difference in other people’s lives, you feel more fulfilled about your own life. There are cosmic connections that bind us all together and touching another person’s soul is one way to deepen these connections.

Reflect

It’s easy to take certain things for granted especially when you’re juggling several activities in a day. To get in touch with your spiritual side, try reflecting for a few minutes every day. Think of all the things that you are grateful for, find ways to make your life even more fulfilling. Say a little prayer and look deeper into yourself to develop a stronger spiritual core.
